IoT Chipset Gets The Go Ahead For LTE-M
By Mat Dirjish
The UBX-R5 chipset from u-blox carries certification to operate on AT&T’s LTE-M network for Internet of Things (IoT) applications. Desirable for long-life-cycle IoT applications, the chipset features end-to-end device security, data security, and access-control management.
A cellular chipset platform, UBX-R5 supports LPWA LTE-M and NB-IoT technologies and is a strong candidate for long-life-cycle IoT applications such as smart metering, telematics, tracking, security systems, building automation, smart lighting solutions, and connected health. It also includes key features of 3GPP Release 14.
In terms of end‑to‑end security, the chipset integrates a hardware‑based root of trust (RoT) in a discrete secure element compliant with EAL5+ High common criteria certification. The platform also includes eSIM capability, offering customers SIM activation and subscription management options. Need to connect with more specs and revelations? Then procure and peruse the UBX-R5 datasheet.
